Varadhan's decomposition of shift-invariant closed uniform forms for large scale interacting systems on general crystal lattices
Abstract: We prove a uniform version of Varadhan decomposition for shift-invariant closed uniform forms associated to large scale interacting systems on general crystal lattices. In particular, this result includes the case of translation invariant processes on Euclidean lattices $\mathbf{Z}^d$ with finite range. Our result generalizes the result of arXiv:2009.04699 which was valid for systems on transferab… ▽ More

The Hodge Realization of the Polylogarithm and the Shintani Generating Class for Totally Real Fields
Abstract: In this article, we construct the Hodge realization of the polylogarithm class in the equivariant Deligne-Beilinson cohomology of a certain algebraic torus associated to a totally real field. We then prove that the de Rham realization of this polylogarithm gives the Shintani generating class, a cohomology class generating the values of the Lerch zeta functions of the totally real field at nonposit… ▽ More

Supersolid Devil's Staircases of Spin-Orbit-Coupled Bosons in Optical Lattices
Abstract: We study the emergence of supersolid Devil's staircases of spin-orbit coupled bosons loaded in optical lattices. We consider two- and three-dimensional systems of pseudo-spin-$1/2$ bosons interacting via local spin-dependent interactions. These interactions together with spin-orbit coupling produce length scales that are commensurate to the lattice spacing. This commensurability leads to Devil's s… ▽ More

Varadhan's Decomposition of Shift-Invariant Closed $L^2$-forms for Large Scale Interacting Systems on the Euclidean Lattice
Abstract: We rigorously formulate and prove for a relatively general class of interactions Varadhan's Decomposition of shift-invariant closed $L^2$-forms for a large scale interacting system on a Euclidean lattice $(\mathbb{Z}^d,\mathbb{E}^d)$. Such decomposition of closed forms has played an essential role in proving the diffusive scaling limit of nongradient systems. The universal expression in terms of c… ▽ More

A Decomposition Theorem of Varadhan Type for Co-local Forms on Large Scale Interacting Systems
Abstract: In our previous article with Yukio Kametani, we investigated the geometric structure underlying a large scale interacting system on infinite graphs, via constructing a suitable cohomology theory called uniformly local cohomology, which reflects the geometric property of the microscopic model, using a class of functions called the uniformly local functions. In this article, we introduce the co-loca… ▽ More

Topological Structures of Large Scale Interacting Systems via Uniform Functions and Forms
Abstract: In this article, we investigate the topological structure of large scale interacting systems on infinite graphs, by constructing a suitable cohomology which we call the uniform cohomology. This provides a new perspective for the identification of macroscopic observables from the microscopic system. As a straightforward application of our theory when the underlying graph has a free action of a grou… ▽ More

Theory and Algorithms for Shapelet-based Multiple-Instance Learning
Abstract: We propose a new formulation of Multiple-Instance Learning (MIL), in which a unit of data consists of a set of instances called a bag. The goal is to find a good classifier of bags based on the similarity with a "shapelet" (or pattern), where the similarity of a bag with a shapelet is the maximum similarity of instances in the bag. In previous work, some of the training instances are chosen as sha… ▽ More

$p$-adic Polylogarithms and $p$-adic Hecke $L$-functions for Totally Real Fields

Canonical Equivariant Cohomology Classes Generating Zeta Values of Totally Real Fields
Abstract: It is known that the special values at nonpositive integers of a Dirichlet $L$-function may be expressed using the generalized Bernoulli numbers, which are defined by a canonical generating function. The purpose of this article is to consider the generalization of this classical result to the case of Hecke $L$-functions of totally real fields. Bezier Simplex Fitting: Describing Pareto Fronts of Simplicial Problems with Small Samples in Multi-objective Optimization
Abstract: Multi-objective optimization problems require simultaneously optimizing two or more objective functions. Many studies have reported that the solution set of an M-objective optimization problem often forms an (M-1)-dimensional topological simplex (a curved line for M=2, a curved triangle for M=3, a curved tetrahedron for M=4, etc.). Since the dimensionality of the solution set increases as the numb… ▽ More

Boosting the kernelized shapelets: Theory and algorithms for local features
Abstract: We consider binary classification problems using local features of objects. Despite the empirical success of such approaches using local features, the generalization ability of resulting hypotheses is not fully… ▽ More
