This study modifies the Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy (CMA-ES) algorithm for multi-modal optimization problems. The enhancements focus on addressing the challenges of multiple global minima, improving the algorithm's ability to maintain diversity and explore complex fitness landscapes. We incorporate niching strategies and dynamic adaptation mechanisms to refine the algorithm's performance in identifying and optimizing multiple global optima. The algorithm generates a population of candidate solutions by sampling from a multivariate normal distribution centered around the current mean vector, with the spread determined by the step size and covariance matrix. Each solution's fitness is evaluated as a weighted sum of its contributions to all global minima, maintaining population diversity and preventing premature convergence. We implemented the algorithm on 8 tunable composite functions for the GECCO 2024 Competition on Benchmarking Niching Methods for Multi-Modal Optimization (MMO), adhering to the competition's benchmarking framework. The results are presenting in many ways such as Peak Ratio, F1 score on various dimensions. They demonstrate the algorithm's robustness and effectiveness in handling both global optimization and MMO- specific challenges, providing a comprehensive solution for complex multi-modal optimization problems.

This article introduces an enhanced particle swarm optimizer (PSO), termed Orthogonal PSO with Mutation (OPSO-m). Initially, it proposes an orthogonal array-based learning approach to cultivate an improved initial swarm for PSO, significantly boosting the adaptability of swarm-based optimization algorithms. The article further presents archive-based self-adaptive learning strategies, dividing the population into regular and elite subgroups. Each subgroup employs distinct learning mechanisms. The regular group utilizes efficient learning schemes derived from three unique archives, which categorize individuals based on their quality levels. Additionally, a mutation strategy is implemented to update the positions of elite individuals. Comparative studies are conducted to assess the effectiveness of these learning strategies in OPSO-m, evaluating its optimization capacity through exploration-exploitation dynamics and population diversity analysis. The proposed OPSO-m model is tested on real-parameter challenges from the CEC 2017 suite in 10, 30, 50, and 100-dimensional search spaces, with its results compared to contemporary state-of-the-art algorithms using a sensitivity metric. OPSO-m exhibits distinguished performance in the precision of solutions, rapidity of convergence, efficiency in search, and robust stability, thus highlighting its superior aptitude for resolving intricate optimization issues.

Abstract:
Excited states of the $^{203}$Po ($Z = 84, N = 119$) have been investigated after populating them through $^{194}$Pt($^{13}$C,4n) fusion-evaporation reaction at E$_{beam}$ = 74 MeV and using a large array of Compton suppressed HPGe clover detectors as the detection setup for the emitted $γ$-rays. Standard techniques of $γ$-ray spectroscopy have been applied towards establishing the level structure of the nucleus. Twenty new $γ$-ray transitions have been identified therein, through $γ-γ$ coincidence measurements, and spin-parity assignments of several states have been determined or confirmed, following the angular correlation and linear polarization measurements on the observed $γ$-rays. The excited states have been interpreted in the framework of large basis shell model calculations, while comparing their calculated and experimental energies. They have been principally ascribed to proton population in the $h_{9/2}$ and $i_{13/2}$ orbitals outside the $Z = 82$ closure and neutron occupation of the $f_{5/2}$, $p_{3/2}$ and $i_{13/2}$ orbitals in the $N = 126$ shell.

High spin states in 105Cd were studied using 16O beam on 92Mo reaction at an incident beam energy of 75 MeV. The level scheme of 105Cd has been observed up to an excitation energy of 10.8 MeV with the addition of 30 new gamma transitions to the previous work. Spin and parity for most of the reported levels are assigned from the DCO ratios and linear polarization measurements. The microscopic origin of the investigated band structures is discussed in the context of triaxial projected shell model. The energies of observed positive and negative parity bands agree with the predictions of the TPSM by considering triaxial deformation for the observed excited band structures. The shape evolution with increasing angular momentum is explained in the framework of Cranked Shell Model and the Total Routhian Surface calculations.

With the proliferation of web technologies it becomes more and more important to make the traditional negotiation pricing mechanism automated and intelligent. The behaviour of software agents which negotiate on behalf of humans is determined by their tactics in the form of decision functions. Prediction of partners behaviour in negotiation has been an active research direction in recent years as it will improve the utility gain for the adaptive negotiation agent and also achieve the agreement much quicker or look after much higher benefits. In this paper we review the various negotiation methods and the existing architecture. Although negotiation is practically very complex activity to automate without human intervention we have proposed architecture for predicting the opponents behaviour which will take into consideration various factors which affect the process of negotiation. The basic concept is that the information about negotiators, their individual actions and dynamics can be used by software agents equipped with adaptive capabilities to learn from past negotiations and assist in selecting appropriate negotiation tactics.
