Today's analog/mixed-signal (AMS) integrated circuit (IC) designs demand substantial manual intervention. The advent of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) has unveiled significant potential across various fields, suggesting their applicability in streamlining large-scale AMS IC design as well. A bottleneck in employing MLLMs for automatic AMS circuit generation is the absence of a comprehensive dataset delineating the schematic-netlist relationship. We therefore design an automatic technique for converting schematics into netlists, and create dataset AMSNet, encompassing transistor-level schematics and corresponding SPICE format netlists. With a growing size, AMSNet can significantly facilitate exploration of MLLM applications in AMS circuit design. We have made an initial set of netlists public, and will make both our netlist generation tool and the full dataset available upon publishing of this paper.

DnD utilizes recent advancements in multimodal deep learning to produce complex natural language descriptions, without the need for labeled training data or a predefined set of concepts to choose from. Additionally, DnD is training-free, meaning we don't train any new models and can easily leverage more capable general purpose models in the future. We have conducted extensive qualitative and quantitative analysis to show that DnD outperforms prior work by providing higher quality neuron descriptions. Specifically, our method on average provides the highest quality labels and is more than 2 times as likely to be selected as the best explanation for a neuron than the best baseline.

We propose mechanisms for a mathematical social-choice game that is designed to mediate decision-making processes for city planning, urban area redevelopment, and architectural design (massing) of urban housing complexes. The proposed game is effectively a multi-player generative configurator equipped with automated appraisal/scoring mechanisms for revealing the aggregate impact of alternatives; featuring a participatory digital process to support transparent and inclusive decision-making processes in spatial design for ensuring an equitable balance of sustainable development goals. As such, the game effectively empowers a group of decision-makers to reach a fair consensus by mathematically simulating many rounds of trade-offs between their decisions, with different levels of interest or control over various types of investments. Our proposed gamified design process encompasses decision-making about the most idiosyncratic aspects of a site related to its heritage status and cultural significance to the physical aspects such as balancing access to sunlight and the right to sunlight of the neighbours of the site, ensuring coherence of the entire configuration with regards to a network of desired closeness ratings, the satisfaction of a programme of requirements, and intricately balancing individual development goals in conjunction with communal goals and environmental design codes. The game is developed fully based on an algebraic computational process on our own digital twinning platform, using open geospatial data and open-source computational tools such as NumPy. The mathematical process consists of a Markovian design machine for balancing the decisions of actors, a massing configurator equipped with Fuzzy Logic and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, algebraic graph-theoretical accessibility evaluators, and automated solar-climatic evaluators using geospatial computational geometry.

We observe a superfluid $λ$ transition in the $P-V$ criticality of charged AdS black holes, within a holographic extended thermodynamics that considers the variation of Newton's constant $G$. We calculate the critical exponents and find that they coincide with those of a superfluid transition in liquid $^4\text{He}$ and the Bose-Einstein condensation of hard-sphere Bose gas. Moreover, the independence of entropy and thermodynamic volume in the holographic framework allows us to construct a well-defined Ruppeiner metric. The associated scalar curvature suggests that the black holes show similar microscopic interactions with the hard-sphere Bose gas, where the superfluid (condensed) phase is dominated by repulsive interactions, while the normal (gas) phase is dominated by attractive interactions. These findings might provide us with new insights into the quantum aspect of charged AdS black holes.

In this paper, we study the phase tranisions in the extended holographic thermodynamics of Born-Infeld AdS black holes. The extended gravitational thermodynamics of black holes is related to the thermodynamics of the dual field theory by varying both cosmological constant and Newton's constant. With topological analysis and numerical calculation, we find that the reentrant large-small-large black hole phase transition still exists in $D=4$. Interestingly, a similar reentrant phase transition is also observed in the dual field theory, between the high-, low- and high-entropy thermal states. For higher dimension $D>4$, only the van der Waals like phase transition is observed, both in the bulk and the dual field theory.

In this work, we present a convenient method to perform the topological analysis of black hole thermodynamics. Utilizing the spinodal curve, thermodynamic critical points of a black hole are endowed with a topological quantity, Brouwer degree, which reflects intrinsic properties of the system under smooth deformations. Specially, in our setup, it can be easily calculated without exact solution of critical points. This enables us to conveniently investigate the topological transition between different thermodynamic systems, and give a topological classification for them. In this framework, topology of Lovelock AdS black holes with spherical horizon geometry is explored. Results show that charged black holes in arbitrary dimensions can be classified into the same topology class, whereas the $d=7$ and $d \geq 8$ uncharged black holes are in different topology classes. Moreover, we revisit the relation between different phase structures of these black holes from the viewpoint of topology. Some general topological properties of critical points are also discussed.

The wake-up phenomenon widely exists in hafnia-based ferroelectric capacitors, which causes device parameter variation over time. Crystallization at higher temperatures have been reported to be effective in eliminating wake-up, but high temperature may yield the monoclinic phase or generate high concentration oxygen vacancies. In this work, a unidirectional annealing method is proposed for the crystallization of $\mathrm{Hf_{0.5}Zr_{0.5}O_2}$ (HZO) superlattice ferroelectrics, which involves heating from the $\mathrm{Pt/ZrO_2}$ interface side. Nanoscale $\mathrm{ZrO_2}$ is selected to resist the formation of monoclinic phase, and the chemically inert Pt electrode can avoid the continuous generation of oxygen vacancies during annealing. It is demonstrated that $\mathrm{600^oC}$ annealing only leads to a moderate content of monoclinic phase in HZO, and the TiN/HZO/Pt capacitor exhibits wake-up free nature and a $2P_\mathrm{r}$ value of 27.4 $μ\mathrm{C/cm^2}$. On the other hand, heating from the $\mathrm{TiN/HfO_2}$ side, or using $\mathrm{500^oC}$ annealing temperature, both yield ferroelectric devices that require a wake-up process. The special configuration of $\mathrm{Pt/ZrO_2}$ is verified by comparative studies with several other superlattice structures and HZO solid-state solutions. It is discovered that heating from the $\mathrm{Pt/HfO_2}$ side at $\mathrm{600^oC}$ leads to high leakage current and a memristor behavior. The mechanisms of ferroelectric phase stabilization and memristor formation have been discussed. The unidirectional heating method can also be useful for other hafnia-based ferroelectric devices.

Values (why to conserve) and Attributes (what to conserve) are essential concepts of cultural heritage. Recent studies have been using social media to map values and attributes conveyed by public to cultural heritage. However, it is rare to connect heterogeneous modalities of images, texts, geo-locations, timestamps, and social network structures to mine the semantic and structural characteristics therein. This study presents a methodological workflow for constructing such multi-modal datasets using posts and images on Flickr for graph-based machine learning (ML) tasks concerning heritage values and attributes. After data pre-processing using state-of-the-art ML models, the multi-modal information of visual contents and textual semantics are modelled as node features and labels, while their social relationships and spatiotemporal contexts are modelled as links in Multi-Graphs. The workflow is tested in three cities containing UNESCO World Heritage properties - Amsterdam, Suzhou, and Venice, which yielded datasets with high consistency for semi-supervised learning tasks. The entire process is formally described with mathematical notations, ready to be applied in provisional tasks both as ML problems with technical relevance and as urban/heritage study questions with societal interests. This study could also benefit the understanding and map** of heritage values and attributes for future research in global cases, aiming at inclusive heritage management practices.

In this work, the microstructure of charged AdS black holes under minimal length effects is investigated. We study the thermodynamics of black holes in the extended phase space, where the cosmological constant is regarded as the thermodynamic pressure. The modified Hawking temperature and phase transition are obtained based on the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). Then, using thermodynamic geometry, we show that the microstructure of black holes can be determined by the ratio of GUP parameter to charge. For a small ratio, the black hole exhibits the typical RN-AdS microstructure with van der Waals phase transition and repulsive/attractive interactions. As the ratio increases, the reentrant phase transition takes place, and both the repulsion-attraction coexisted black hole and the attraction dominated black hole can be found in this case. For a large ratio, the black hole behaves like a Schwarzchild-AdS black hole in which neither phase transition nor repulsive interaction exists. These results suggest that the GUP effect will reduce the repulsive interaction presented by the charged AdS black hole, which can also be qualitatively understood from the perspective of black hole molecules.

Ferroelectricity observed in thin film $\mathrm{HfO_2}$, either doped with Si, Al, etc. or in the $\mathrm{Hf_{0.5}Zr_{0.5}O_2}$ form, has gained great technical significance. However, the soft mode theory faces a difficulty in explaining the origin of such ferroelectricity. In this work, we propose that the 7 cation coordination number of $\mathrm{HfO_2/ZrO_2}$ lies at the heart of this ferroelectricity, which stems from the proper ionic radii of Hf/Zr compared with O. Among the numerous compounds with non-centrosymmetric nature, e.g., $mm2$ point group, $\mathrm{HfO_2}$ and $\mathrm{ZrO_2}$ are special in that they are close to the border of 7 and 8 cation coordination, such that the 8-coordination tetragonal intermediate phase could greatly reduce the switching barrier. Other 7-coordination candidates, including $\mathrm{SrI_2}$, TaON, YSBr and YOF are also studied in comparison to $\mathrm{HfO_2}$/$\mathrm{ZrO_2}$, and six switching paths are analyzed in detail for the $Pca2_1$ phase. A rule of preferred switching path in terms of ionic radii ratio and coordination number has been established. We also show the possible route from ferroelectric $Pca2_1$ phase to monoclinic $P2_1/c$ phase in $\mathrm{HfO_2}$, which is relevant to the fatigue phenomenon.

The UNESCO World Heritage List (WHL) includes the exceptionally valuable cultural and natural heritage to be preserved for mankind. Evaluating and justifying the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) is essential for each site inscribed in the WHL, and yet a complex task, even for experts, since the selection criteria of OUV are not mutually exclusive. Furthermore, manual annotation of heritage values and attributes from multi-source textual data, which is currently dominant in heritage studies, is knowledge-demanding and time-consuming, impeding systematic analysis of such authoritative documents in terms of their implications on heritage management. This study applies state-of-the-art NLP models to build a classifier on a new dataset containing Statements of OUV, seeking an explainable and scalable automation tool to facilitate the nomination, evaluation, research, and monitoring processes of World Heritage sites. Label smoothing is innovatively adapted to improve the model performance by adding prior inter-class relationship knowledge to generate soft labels. The study shows that the best models fine-tuned from BERT and ULMFiT can reach 94.3% top-3 accuracy. A human study with expert evaluation on the model prediction shows that the models are sufficiently generalizable. The study is promising to be further developed and applied in heritage research and practice.

Multi-organ segmentation is one of most successful applications of deep learning in medical image analysis. Deep convolutional neural nets (CNNs) have shown great promise in achieving clinically applicable image segmentation performance on CT or MRI images. State-of-the-art CNN segmentation models apply either 2D or 3D convolutions on input images, with pros and cons associated with each method: 2D convolution is fast, less memory-intensive but inadequate for extracting 3D contextual information from volumetric images, while the opposite is true for 3D convolution. To fit a 3D CNN model on CT or MRI images on commodity GPUs, one usually has to either downsample input images or use cropped local regions as inputs, which limits the utility of 3D models for multi-organ segmentation. In this work, we propose a new framework for combining 3D and 2D models, in which the segmentation is realized through high-resolution 2D convolutions, but guided by spatial contextual information extracted from a low-resolution 3D model. We implement a self-attention mechanism to control which 3D features should be used to guide 2D segmentation. Our model is light on memory usage but fully equipped to take 3D contextual information into account. Experiments on multiple organ segmentation datasets demonstrate that by taking advantage of both 2D and 3D models, our method is consistently outperforms existing 2D and 3D models in organ segmentation accuracy, while being able to directly take raw whole-volume image data as inputs.

Organs-at-risk (OAR) delineation in computed tomography (CT) is an important step in Radiation Therapy (RT) planning. Recently, deep learning based methods for OAR delineation have been proposed and applied in clinical practice for separate regions of the human body (head and neck, thorax, and abdomen). However, there are few researches regarding the end-to-end whole-body OARs delineation because the existing datasets are mostly partially or incompletely annotated for such task. In this paper, our proposed end-to-end convolutional neural network model, called \textbf{AttentionAnatomy}, can be jointly trained with three partially annotated datasets, segmenting OARs from whole body. Our main contributions are: 1) an attention module implicitly guided by body region label to modulate the segmentation branch output; 2) a prediction re-calibration operation, exploiting prior information of the input images, to handle partial-annotation(HPA) problem; 3) a new hybrid loss function combining batch Dice loss and spatially balanced focal loss to alleviate the organ size imbalance problem. Experimental results of our proposed framework presented significant improvements in both Sørensen-Dice coefficient (DSC) and 95\% Hausdorff distance compared to the baseline model.

We found that the area of the minimal surface has both logarithmic squared divergence and logarithmic divergence. The logarithmic squared divergence can not be removed by either Legendre transformation or the usual geometric substraction. We further make analytic continuation to the Minkowski signature %for the case without the jump and take the limit such that the two edges of the cusp become light-like and extract anomalous dimension from the coefficient of the logarithmic divergence. This anomalous dimension goes back smoothly to the results in the undeformed case when we take the limit that the deformation parameter goes to zero.
