The exploration of nuclear mass or binding energy, a fundamental property of atomic nuclei, remains at the forefront of nuclear physics research due to limitations in experimental studies and uncertainties in model calculations, particularly when moving away from the stability line. In this work, we employ two machine learning (ML) models, Support Vector Regression (SVR) and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), to assess their performance in predicting nuclear mass excesses using available experimental data and a physics-based feature space. We also examine the extrapolation capabilities of these models using newly measured nuclei from AME2020 and by extending our calculations beyond the training and test set regions. Our results indicate that both SVR and GPR models perform quite well within the training and test regions when informed with a physics-based feature space. Furthermore, these ML models demonstrate the ability to make reasonable predictions away from the available experimental data, offering results comparable to the model calculations. Through further refinement, these models can be used as reliable and efficient ML tools for studying nuclear properties in the future.

We compute the electromagnetic properties of spin-$\frac12$ doubly charmed baryons on 2+1 flavor lattices that have a pion mass of $\sim$ 156 MeV. The Tsukuba action is employed for the charm quark in addition to the standard isotropic Clover action to quantify the $\mathcal{O}(m_q a)$ effects. We calculate the electric and magnetic Sachs form factors and extract the magnetic moments and electric and magnetic charge radii. We also investigate the individual quark sector contributions to the charge radii and the magnetic moments. The results provide vital information to understand the size and shape of the doubly charmed baryons. We find that the two heavy charm quarks drive the charge radii and the magnetic moments to smaller values than that of light baryons. The central values of the observables that are obtained using the relativistic action for the charm quark are $5$ to $10\%$ larger than those obtained using the Clover action. Utilizing the available lattice data, we reexamine the quark mass dependence of the observables.

Recently, there have been significant developments in neural networks, which led to the frequent use of neural networks in the physics literature. This work is focused on predicting the masses of exotic hadrons, doubly charmed and bottomed baryons using neural networks trained on meson and baryon masses that are determined by experiments. The original data set has been extended using the recently proposed artificial data augmentation methods. We have observed that the neural network's predictive ability increases with the use of augmented data. The results indicated that data augmentation techniques play an essential role in improving neural network predictions; moreover, neural networks can make reasonable predictions for exotic hadrons, doubly charmed, and doubly bottomed baryons. The results are also comparable to Gaussian Process and Constituent Quark Model.

Neural networks have become popular in many fields of science since they serve as promising, reliable and powerful tools. In this work, we study the effect of data augmentation on the predictive power of neural network models for nuclear physics data. We present two different data augmentation techniques, and we conduct a detailed analysis in terms of different depths, optimizers, activation functions and random seed values to show the success and robustness of the model. Using the experimental uncertainties for data augmentation for the first time, the size of the training data set is artificially boosted and the changes in the root-mean-square error between the model predictions on the test set and the experimental data are investigated. Our results show that the data augmentation decreases the prediction errors, stabilizes the model and prevents overfitting. The extrapolation capabilities of the MLP models are also tested for newly measured nuclei in AME2020 mass table, and it is shown that the predictions are significantly improved by using data augmentation.

Studying the semileptonic decays of charmed particles is prominent in testing the standard model of particle physics. Motivated by recent experimental progress in weak decays of the charm baryon sector, we study the form factors of $Λ_c \to Λ\ell^+ ν$ transition on two flavor lattices. We compute two- and three-point functions, extract the dimensionless projected correlators, and combine them to form the Weinberg form factors. In the zero transferred momentum limit $f_1$, $f_2$ and $g_1$ form factors are found to be in agreement with other models, furthermore $f_3$ and $g_3$ form factors are comparable to model determinations. The $g_2$ form factor, on the other hand, is found to be mildly larger. We also evaluate the helicity form factors, which is consistent with the previous lattice studies.

In recent years, artificial neural networks and their applications for large data sets have became a crucial part of scientific research. In this work, we implement the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), which is a class of feedforward artificial neural network (ANN), to predict ground-state binding energies of atomic nuclei. Two different MLP architectures with three and four hidden layers are used to study their effects on the predictions. To train the MLP architectures, two different inputs are used along with the latest atomic mass table and changes in binding energy predictions are also analyzed in terms of the changes in the input channel. It is seen that using appropriate MLP architectures and putting more physical information in the input channels, MLP can make fast and reliable predictions for binding energies of atomic nuclei, which is also comparable to the microscopic energy density functionals.

By employing a set of interpolating operators with different Dirac structures and quark-field smearings for the variational analysis, we extract the ground and first few excited states of the spin-$1/2$ and spin-$3/2$, singly-, doubly-, and triply-charmed baryons. Additionally, we study the $Ξ_c$-$Ξ_c^\prime$ mixing and the operator dependence of the excited states in a variational approach. We identify several states that lie close to the experimentally observed excited states of the $Σ_c$, $Ξ_c$ and $Ω_c$ baryons, including some of the $Ξ_c$ states recently reported by LHCb. Our results for the doubly- and triply-charmed baryons are suggestive for future experiments.

Two $Z_b$ hadrons with exotic quark structure $\bar bb\bar du$ were discovered by Belle experiment. We present a lattice QCD study of the $\bar bb\bar du$ system in the approximation of static $b$ quarks, where the total spin of heavy quarks is fixed to one. The energies of eigenstates are determined as a function of the separation $r$ between $b$ and $\bar b$. The lower eigenstates are related to a bottomonium and a pion. The eigenstate dominated by $B\bar B^*$ has energy significantly below $m_B+m_{B^*}$, which points to a sizable attraction for small $r$. The attractive potential $V(r)$ between $B$ and $\bar B^*$ is extracted assuming that this eigenstate is related exclusively to $B\bar B^*$. The Schrödinger equation for $B\bar B^*$ within the extracted potential leads to one bound state below $B\bar B^*$ threshold, whose mass depends on the parametrization of the lattice potential. For certain parametrizations, the bound state is very close to the $B\bar B^*$ threshold and renders a narrow peak in the $B\bar B^*$ rate above threshold - these features could be related to $Z_b(10610)$ in the experiment.

Two tetraquark candidates $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$ with flavor structure $\bar bb\bar du$ were discovered by Belle experiment in 2011. We present a preliminary $N_f=2$ lattice study of the $\bar bb\bar du$ system in the approximation of static $b$ quarks, where the total spin of heavy quarks is fixed to one. The ground and the excited eigen-energies are determined as a function of separation $r$ between $b$ and $\bar b$. The lower eigenstates are related to a bottomonium and a pion. One of the higher eigenstates is dominated by $B\bar B^*$: its energy is significantly below $m_B+m_{B*}$ for r=[0.1,0.4] fm, which suggests sizable attraction. The attractive potential $V(r)$ between $B$ and $\bar B^*$ is extracted assuming that this eigenstate is related exclusively to $B\bar B^*$. Assuming a certain form of the potential and solving non-relativistic Schrodinger equation, we find a bound state pole below $B\bar B^*$ threshold. For certain parametrizations, the bound state is very close to the $B\bar B^*$ threshold - this feature could be related to $Z_b(10610)$ in the experiment.

We evaluate the spin-$3/2 \to$ spin-$1/2$ electromagnetic transitions of the doubly charmed baryons on 2+1 flavor, $32^3 \times 64$ PACS-CS lattices with a pion mass of $156(9)$ MeV/c$^2$. A relativistic heavy quark action is employed to minimize the associated systematic errors on charm-quark observables. We extract the magnetic dipole, $M1$, and the electric quadrupole, $E2$, transition form factors. In order to make a reliable estimate of the $M1$ form factor, we carry out an analysis by including the effect of excited-state contributions. We find that the $M1$ transition is dominant and light degrees of freedom ($u/d$- or $s$-quark) play the leading role. $E2$ form factors, on the other hand, are found to be negligibly small, which in turn, have minimal effect on the helicity and transition amplitudes. We predict the decay widths and lifetimes of $Ξ_{cc}^{\ast +,++}$ and $Ω_{cc}^{\ast +}$ based on our results. Finite size effects on these ensembles are expected to be around 1\%. Differences in kinematical and dynamical factors with respect to the $Nγ\toΔ$ transition are discussed and compared to non-lattice determinations as well kee** possible systematic artifacts in mind. A comparison to $Ω_c γ\rightarrow Ω_c^\ast$ transition and a discussion on systematic errors related to the choice of heavy quark action are also given. Results we present here are particularly suggestive for experimental facilities such as LHCb, PANDA, Belle II and BESIII to search for further states.
