Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a technique that enables secure communication between two parties by sharing a secret key. One of the most well-known QKD protocols is the BB84 protocol, proposed by Charles Bennett and Gilles Brassard in 1984. In this protocol, Alice and Bob use a quantum channel to exchange qubits, allowing them to generate a shared key that is resistant to eavesdrop**. This paper presents a comparative study of existing QKD schemes, including the BB84 protocol, and highlights the advancements made in the BB84 protocol over the years. The study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the different QKD schemes and their strengths and weaknesses and demonstrate QKDs working principles through existing simulations and implementations. Through this study, we show that the BB84 protocol is a highly secure QKD scheme that has been extensively studied and implemented in various settings. Furthermore, we discuss the improvements made to the BB84 protocol to enhance its security and practicality, including the use of decoy states and advanced error correction techniques. Overall, this paper provides a comprehensive analysis of QKD schemes, focusing on the BB84 protocol in secure communication technologies.

Supergiant Fast X-ray Transients (SFXT) are High Mass X-ray Binaries displaying X-ray outbursts reaching peak luminosities of 10$^{38}$ erg/s and spend most of their life in more quiescent states with luminosities as low as 10$^{32}$-10$^{33}$ erg/s. The main goal of our comprehensive and uniform analysis of the SFXT Swift triggers is to provide tools to predict whether a transient which has no known X-ray counterpart may be an SFXT candidate. These tools can be exploited for the development of future missions exploring the variable X-ray sky through large FoV instruments. We examined all available data on outbursts of SFXTs that triggered the Swift/BAT collected between 2005-08-30 and 2014-12-31, in particular those for which broad-band data, including the Swift/XRT ones, are also available. We processed all BAT and XRT data uniformly with the Swift Burst Analyser to produce spectral evolution dependent flux light curves for each outburst. The BAT data allowed us to infer useful diagnostics to set SFXT triggers apart from the general GRB population, showing that SFXTs give rise uniquely to image triggers and are simultaneously very long, faint, and `soft' hard-X-ray transients. The BAT data alone can discriminate very well the SFXTs from other fast transients such as anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters. However, to distinguish SFXTs from, for instance, accreting millisecond X-ray pulsars and jetted tidal disruption events, the XRT data collected around the time of the BAT triggers are decisive. The XRT observations of 35/52 SFXT BAT triggers show that in the soft X-ray energy band, SFXTs display a decay in flux from the peak of the outburst of at least 3 orders of magnitude within a day and rarely undergo large re-brightening episodes, favouring in most cases a rapid decay down to the quiescent level within 3-5 days (at most). Doctors typically write in incomprehensible handwriting, making it difficult for both the general public and some pharmacists to understand the medications they have prescribed. It is not ideal for them to write the prescription quietly and methodically because they will be dealing with dozens of patients every day and will be swamped with work.As a result, their handwriting is illegible. This may result in reports or prescriptions consisting of short forms and cursive writing that a typical person or pharmacist won't be able to read properly, which will cause prescribed medications to be misspelled. However, some individuals are accustomed to writing prescriptions in regional languages because we all live in an area with a diversity of regional languages. It makes analyzing the content much more challenging. So, in this project, we'll use a recognition system to build a tool that can translate the handwriting of physicians in any language. This system will be made into an application which is fully autonomous in functioning. As the user uploads the prescription image the program will pre-process the image by performing image pre-processing, and word segmentations initially before processing the image for training. And it will be done for every language we require the model to detect. And as of the deduction model will be made using deep learning techniques including CNN, RNN, and LSTM, which are utilized to train the model. To match words from various languages that will be written in the system, Unicode will be used. Furthermore, fuzzy search and market basket analysis are employed to offer an end result that will be optimized from the pharmaceutical database and displayed to the user as a structured output.

The ProtoDUNE-SP detector incorporates full-size components as designed for DUNE and has an active volume of $7\times 6\times 7.2$~m$^3$. The H4 beam delivers incident particles with well-measured momenta and high-purity particle identification. ProtoDUNE-SP's successful operation between 2018 and 2020 demonstrates the effectiveness of the single-phase far detector design. This paper describes the design, construction, assembly and operation of the detector components.

The observation of 236 MeV muon neutrinos from kaon-decay-at-rest (KDAR) originating in the core of the Sun would provide a unique signature of dark matter annihilation. Since excellent angle and energy reconstruction are necessary to detect this monoenergetic, directional neutrino flux, DUNE with its vast volume and reconstruction capabilities, is a promising candidate for a KDAR neutrino search. In this work, we evaluate the proposed KDAR neutrino search strategies by realistically modeling both neutrino-nucleus interactions and the response of DUNE. We find that, although reconstruction of the neutrino energy and direction is difficult with current techniques in the relevant energy range, the superb energy resolution, angular resolution, and particle identification offered by DUNE can still permit great signal/background discrimination. Moreover, there are non-standard scenarios in which searches at DUNE for KDAR in the Sun can probe dark matter interactions.

This work proposes a systematic framework for modelling and controller design of a Commercial-Off-The Shelf (COTS) unmanned rotorcraft using control theory and principles, for brick wall construction. With point to point navigation as the primary application, command velocities in the three axes of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) are considered as inputs of the system while its actual velocities are system outputs. Using the sine and step response data acquired from a Hardware-in-Loop (HiL) test simulator, the considered system was modelled in individual axes with the help of the proposed framework. This model was employed for controller design where a sliding mode controller was chosen to satisfy certain requirements of the application like robustness, flexibility and accuracy. The model was validated using step response data and produced a deviation of only 9%. Finally, the controller results from field test showed fine control up to 8 cms accuracy. Sliding Mode Control (SMC) was also compared with a linear controller derived from iterative experimentations and seen to perform better than the latter in terms of accuracy, and robustness to parametric variations and wind disturbances.

No significant signals are observed, and we establish 90\% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions in the range $(5.0 - 22.5)\times 10^{-7}$. The limits are between one and two orders of magnitude more stringent than previous measurements.

There is a need for information retrieval from large collections of low-resolution (LR) binary document images, which can be found in digital libraries across the world, where the high-resolution (HR) counterpart is not available. This gives rise to the problem of binary document image super-resolution (BDISR). The objective of this paper is to address the interesting and challenging problem of super resolution of binary Tamil document images for improved readability and better optical character recognition (OCR). We propose multiple deep neural network architectures to address this problem and analyze their performance. The proposed models are all single image super-resolution techniques, which learn a generalized spatial correspondence between the LR and HR binary document images. We employ convolutional layers for feature extraction followed by transposed convolution and sub-pixel convolution layers for upscaling the features. Since the outputs of the neural networks are gray scale, we utilize the advantage of power law transformation as a post-processing technique to improve the character level pixel connectivity. The performance of our models is evaluated by comparing the OCR accuracies and the mean opinion scores given by human evaluators on LR images and the corresponding model-generated HR images.

In the present work, we discuss the sensitivity estimate of the MACE telescope by using a substantially large Monte Carlo simulation database at 5^0 zenith angle. The sensitivity of MACE telescope is estimated by carrying out the gamma-hadron segregation using the Random Forest method. It is estimated that the MACE telescope will have an analysis energy threshold of 38 GeV for image intensities above 50 photoelectrons. The integral sensitivity for point like sources with Crab Nebula-like spectrum above 38 GeV is ~2.7% of Crab Nebula flux at 5 sigma statistical significance level in 50 hrs of observation.

The performance of the surveillance system will deteriorate when shadows are detected as moving objects. Therefore, shadow detection and elimination usually benefits the next stages. To overcome this issue, a method for detection and elimination of shadows is proposed. This paper presents a method for segmenting moving objects in video sequences based on determining the Euclidian distance between two pixels considering neighborhood values in temporal domain. Further, a method that segments cast and self shadows in video sequences by computing the Eigen values for the neighborhood of each pixel is proposed. The dual-map for cast and self shadow pixels is represented based on the interval of Eigen values. The proposed methods are tested on the benchmark IEEE CHANGE DETECTION 2014 dataset.

We investigate the thermodynamic behavior of maximally symmetric charged, asymptotically AdS black hole solutions of Lovelock gravity. We explore the thermodynamic stability of such solutions by the ordinary method of calculating the specific heat of the black holes and investigating its divergences which signal second order phase transitions between black hole states. We then utilize the methods of thermodynamic geometry of black hole spacetimes in order to explain the origin of these points of divergence. We calculate the curvature scalar corresponding to a Legendre-invariant thermodynamic metric of these spacetimes and find that the divergences in the black hole specific heat correspond to singularities in the thermodynamic phase space. We also calculate the area spectrum for large black holes in the model by applying the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization to the adiabatic invariant calculated for the spacetime.
