Schrödinger equation in dimension two with competing logarithmic self-interaction
Abstract: In this paper we study the equation \[ -Δu +(\log |\cdot|*|u|^2)u=(\log|\cdot|*|u|^q)|u|^{q-2}u, \qquad \hbox{ in }\mathbb{R}^2, \] where $8/3 < q < 4$. By means of variational arguments, we find infinitely many radially symmetric classical solutions. The main difficulties rely on the competition between the two nonlocal terms and on the presence of logarithmic kernels, which have not a prescribed… ▽ More

Hadronic processes at work in 5BZB J0630-2406
Abstract: Recent observations are shedding light on the important role that active galactic nuclei (AGN) play in the production of high-energy neutrinos. In this study, we focus on one object, 5BZB J0630-2406, which is among the blazars recently proposed as associated with neutrino emission during the first 7-yr IceCube observations. Modelling the quasi-simultaneous, broad-band spectral energy distribution,… ▽ More

Extragalactic neutrino factories
Abstract: Identifying the astrophysical sources responsible for the high-energy cosmic neutrinos has been a longstanding challenge. In a previous work, we report evidence for a spatial correlation between blazars from the 5th Roma-BZCat catalog and neutrino data of the highest detectable energies, i.e. >0.1 PeV, collected by the IceCube Observatory in the southern celestial hemisphere. Spectroscopic Signature of a Re-established Accretion Disk in Symbiotic-like Recurrent Nova RS Ophiuchi
Abstract: A novel method is presented which can pin down the time the accretion disk re-established itself in the RS Oph system after it experienced a nova disruption. The method is based on the re-ionisation of the ejecta by photoionisation from the radiation released in the boundary layer from accretion.

Beginning a journey across the universe: the discovery of extragalactic neutrino factories
Abstract: Neutrinos are the most elusive particles in the Universe, capable of traveling nearly unimpeded across it. Despite the vast amount of data collected, a long standing and unsolved issue is still the association of high-energy neutrinos with the astrophysical sources that originate them. Amongst the candidate sources of neutrinos there are blazars, a class of extragalactic sources powered by superma… ▽ More

Abstract: In this paper we carry on the study of a system recently introduced by the first author as the planar version of the well known electrostatic Schrödinger - Maxwell equations. In the positive potential case, we exhibit situations where the existence of solutions depends on the strength of the coupling, being this one modulated by a parameter. The proposed control solution is based on a "model-free" extremum seeking strategy which is shown to succeed in steering the drone in a neighborhood of the victim position. Abstract: In this paper we study a system which we propose as a model to describe the interaction between matter and electromagnetic field from a dualistic point of view.
