Upmost efficiency, few-micron-sized midwave infrared HgCdTe photodetectors
Abstract: A few-micron thick structure that shows nearly 100% resonant polarized absorptance at a predefined midinfrared wavelength is designed and simulated. Like resonant-cavity enhanced photodetector structure, it contains a thin absorber enclosed in a dielectric cavity but surrogates the mirrors by two grating-on-layer structures. Fair manufacturing tolerance while maintaining high peak efficiency is pr… ▽ More

Inverse effect of magnetostriction in magnetoelectric laminates
Abstract: We introduce the notion of inverse effect of magnetostriction for magnetostrictive/piezoelectric heterostructures and study this effect theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that the inverse effect of magnetostriction may crucially contribute to the mechanism of magnetoelectric coupling. It is shown that the studied effect essentially modifies the saturation magnetostriction of the whole s… ▽ More

IR color separation in transmission through gratings on (110) silicon: FTIR experiment versus theory
Abstract: The phenomenon of filtering in zero-diffraction order is studied for transmission through 1D-periodic structures on a silicon wafer. Our study combines FTIR spectrometry in the range from 2.5 to 25 microns, and a rigorous full-vector simulation. The phenomenon exhibits itself as 'bright' and 'dark' bands in the spectra of normal transmission through grating samples, which replace each other quasi-… ▽ More

New resonant cavity-enhanced absorber structures for mid-infrared detector application
Abstract: A new dielectric Fabry-Perot cavity was designed for a resonant enhancing optical absorption by a thin absorber layer embedded into the cavity. In this cavity, the front mirror is a subwavelength grating with $\sim 100$% retroreflection. For a HgCdTe absorber in a matching cavity of the new type, the design is shown to meet the combined challenges of increasing the absorbing efficiency of the enti… ▽ More

The Effective Spin Hamiltonian and Phase Separation Instability of the Almost Half-Filled Hubbard Model and Narrow-Band {\it S-f} Model

The system in the ground state appears to be consisting of the ferromagnetic metallic domains and the antiferromagnetic insulating one sprovided that the concentration of excess electrons (or hole… ▽ More

Generalized kinetic equations for charge carriers in graphene
Abstract: A system of generalized kinetic equations for the distribution functions of two-dimensional Dirac fermions scattered by impurities is derived in the Born approximation with respect to short-range impurity potential. Electron self-trap** at quantum and classical critical points
Abstract: Using Feynman path integral technique estimations of the ground state energy have been found for a conduction electron interacting with order parameter fluctuations near quantum critical points. In some cases only \textit{singular} perturbation theory in the coupling constant emerges for the electron ground state energy. It is shown that an autolocalized state (quantum fluctuon) can be formed an… ▽ More

Electron self-trap** and fluctuation density-of-states tail at the critical point
Abstract: We consider electron self-trap** due to its interaction with order-parameter fluuctuations at the second-order phase-transition or critical point (for example, at the Curie temperature in magnetic or ferroelectric semiconductors). Using Feynman path integral approach the autolocalization energy and the size of the self-trapped state (fluctuon) are estimated. It is shown that the fluctuon state… ▽ More

It is proved that, once the balance equations of NESOM-2 are satisfied, those of NESOM-1 will be satisfied with the same set of the macro-parameters. Localization and Dephasing Driven by Magnetic Fluctuations in Low Carrier Density Colossal Magnetoresistance Materials
