We perform a detailed study of stringy moduli-driven cosmologies between the end of inflation and the commencement of the Hot Big Bang, including both the background and cosmological perturbations: a period that can cover half the lifetime of the universe on a logarithmic scale. Compared to the standard cosmology, stringy cosmologies motivate extended kination, tracker and moduli-dominated epochs involving significantly trans-Planckian field excursions. Conventional effective field theory is unable to control Planck-suppressed operators and so such epochs require a stringy completion for a consistent analysis. Perturbation growth in these stringy cosmologies is substantially enhanced compared to conventional cosmological histories. The transPlanckian field evolution results in radical changes to Standard Model couplings during this history and we outline potential applications to baryogenesis, dark matter and gravitational wave production.

Kination, Meet Kasner: On The Asymptotic Cosmology of String Compactifications

Abstract:
We study runaway, kination-dominated epochs in string cosmology. We show how the apparent classical decompactification runaway of the volume modulus, described by a kination epoch in the 4-dimensional EFT, can be uplifted to a classical Kasner solution in 10d in which the non-compact dimensions collapse towards a Big Crunch. This can also be generalised for arbitrary spacetime and compactification…

This can also be generalised for arbitrary spacetime and compactification dimensions. We conclude with some comments on how this picture is modified by quantum effects, and the need for both dynamical and kinematical Swampland constraints.

Aspects of AdS flux vacua with integer conformal dimensions
Authors:

Abstract:
The DGKT vacua are a class of AdS$_4$ flux vacua showing full moduli stabilization, parametric control, and a parametric separation of scales. The particular masses of the moduli remarkably give rise to integer conformal dimensions in the light spectrum of the would-be holographic duals. In this note, we comment on two properties for AdS flux vacua with integer conformal dimensions. First, there a…

The particular masses of the moduli remarkably give rise to integer conformal dimensions in the light spectrum of the would-be holographic duals. In this note, we comment on two properties for AdS flux vacua with integer conformal dimensions. First, there are polynomial spacetime-dependent shift symmetries for the moduli. Secondly, the leading scalings of the central charge and the moduli can be directly deduced from the near-horizon geometry of stacks of orthogonally-intersecting D-brane domain walls dual to the unbounded fluxes. We illustrate this in a couple of examples of AdS$_4$ and AdS$_3$ parametric flux vacua.

Abstract:
We give a concise argument that supersymmetric AdS type IIA DGKT flux vacua on general Calabi-Yaus have, interpreted holographically, integer conformal dimensions for low-lying scalar primaries in the dual CFT. These integers are independent of any compactification details, such as the background fluxes or triple intersection numbers of the compact manifold. For the Kähler moduli and dilaton, ther…

For the Kähler moduli and dilaton, there is one operator with $Δ= 10$ and $h^{1,1}_{-}$ operators with $Δ=6$, whereas the corresponding axions have $Δ= 11$ and $Δ= 5$. For the complex structure moduli, the $h^{2,1}$ saxions have $Δ=2$, and the axions $Δ=3$. We give a tentative discussion of the origin of these integers and effects that would modify these results.

Abstract:
AdS flux vacua with a parametric separation between the AdS and KK scales have been conjectured to be in the Swampland. We study flux compactifications of massive IIA supergravity with O6 planes which are claimed to allow moduli-stabilised and scale separated AdS$_3$ and AdS$_4$ vacua at arbitrary weak coupling and large volume. A recent refinement of the AdS Distance Conjecture is shown to be inconsistent with the class of AdS$_3$ vacua because the requisite discrete higher form symmetries are absent. We further perform a tree-level study of non-perturbative decays for the nonsupersymmetric versions of the AdS$_3$ solutions, and find that the vacua are stable within this approximation. Finally, we provide an initial investigation of the would-be dual CFT$_2$'s and CFT$_3$'s. We study roughly a dozen different models and find for all AdS$_4$ DGKT-type vacua that the dual operators to the lightest scalars have integer dimensions. For the putative CFT$_2$ dual theories of the AdS$_3$ vacua we find no integer dimensions for the operators.
