We present the design and performance of the TANSPEC, a medium-resolution $0.55-2.5~μ$m cryogenic spectrometer and imager, now in operation at the 3.6-m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT), Nainital, India. The TANSPEC provides three modes of operation which include, photometry with broad- and narrow-band filters, spectroscopy with short slits of 20$^{\prime \prime}$ length and different widths (from 0.5$^{\prime \prime}$ to 4.0$^{\prime \prime}$) in cross-dispersed mode at a resolving power R of $\sim$2750, and spectroscopy with long slits of 60$^{\prime \prime}$ length and different widths (from 0.5$^{\prime \prime}$ to 4.0$^{\prime \prime}$) in prism mode at a resolving power R of $\sim$100-350. TANSPEC's imager mode provides a field of view of 60$^{\prime \prime} \times 60^{\prime \prime}$ with a plate scale of 0.245$^{\prime \prime}$/pixel on the 3.6-m DOT. The TANSPEC was successfully commissioned during April-May 2019 and the subsequent characterization and astronomical observations are presented here. The TANSPEC has been made available to the worldwide astronomical community for science observations from October 2020.

Abstract:
Accurate mass determination of short-lived nuclides by Penning-trap spectrometers and progress in the spectroscopy of proton-rich nuclei have triggered renewed interest in the isobaric multiplet mass equation (IMME). The energy levels of the members of $T=1/2, 1, 3/2,$ and 2 multiplets and the coefficients of the IMME are tabulated for $A\le 71$. The new compilation is based on the most recent mas…

The new compilation is based on the most recent mass evaluation (AME2011) and it includes the experimental results on energies of the states evaluated up to end of 2011. Taking into account the error bars, a significant deviation from the quadratic form of the IMME for the $A=9, 35$ quartets and the $A=32$ quintet is observed.

Major data centre providers are introducing RDMA-based networks for their tenants, as well as for operating the underlying infrastructure. In comparison to traditional socket-based network stacks, RDMA-based networks offer higher throughput, lower latency and reduced CPU overhead. However, transparent checkpoint and migration operations become much more difficult. The key reason is that the OS is removed from the critical path of communication. As a result, some of the communication state itself resides in the NIC hardware and is no more under the direct control of the OS. This control includes especially the support for virtualisation of communication which is needed for live migration of communication partners. In this paper, we propose the basic principles required to implement a migration-capable RDMA-based network. We recommend some changes at the software level and small changes at the hardware level. As a proof of concept, we integrate the proposed changes into SoftRoCE, an open-source kernel-level implementation of the RoCE protocol. We claim that these changes introduce no runtime overhead when migration does not happen. Finally, we develop a proof-of-concept implementation for migrating containerised applications that use RDMA-based networks.
