Abstract:
The Geant4 photonuclear process is benchmarked by comparing it with experimental data to verify the ability of the Geant4 toolkit to simulate the photo-induced reaction on deformed nuclei in the Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) region. The simulation results are compared with experimental data of the deformed nuclei (153Eu, 160Gd, 165Ho, and 186W) targets in terms of both the average neutron energies…

The simulation results are compared with experimental data of the deformed nuclei (153Eu, 160Gd, 165Ho, and 186W) targets in terms of both the average neutron energies and the photonuclear cross-sections. The agreement between the calculated results of the Geant4 photonuclear process model and the experimental measurements is analyzed.

This article illustrates the development of a software named GoldEnvSim for simulation of the dispersion of radionuclides in the atmosphere. The software is written in JavaFX programming language to couple the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and the FLEXPART-WRF model. The highlight function of this software is to provide convenience for users to run a simulation workflow with a user-friendly interface. Many toolkits for post-processing and visualizing output are also incorporated to make this software more comprehensive. At this first version, GoldEnvSim is specifically designed to analyze and predict the dispersion of radioactive materials in the atmosphere, but it has potential for further development and applicable to other fields of environmental science. For demonstration, a simulation of the dispersion of the Cs-137 that is assumed to be released from the Fangchenggang nuclear power plant to whole Vietnam territory was performed. The simulation result on meteorological in comparison to the monitoring data taken from a first-class meteorological observatory was used to evaluate the accuracy of dispersion simulation result.

Boron-doped diamond (BDD) has attracted much attentions in semi-/super-conductor physics and electrochemistry, where the surface structures play crucial roles. Herein, we systematically re-examined the probable surface reconstructions of the bare and H-terminated BDD(100) and (111) surfaces by using density functional theory (DFT). For the optimized structures, we performed STM image simulations based on Tersoff-Hamman scheme and calculations of the projected density of states. We found that: on the BDD(100), the p(2x1) reconstruction has lowest energy and the c(2x2) reconstruction has 0.1673 eV/surface-atom energy higher; On the BDD(111), the ideal (1x1) has lowest energy, the single chain SC-(2x1) and Pandey chain PC-(2x1) have 0.3415 eV/surface-atom and 0.6576 eV/surface-atom higher energy, respectively. The BDD(111) appears to have more reconstructions than the BDD(100) which supports to the idea that the BDD(111) is more electrochemically reactive than the BDD(100). In addition, we study the impact of the Boron dopant on the surface states of the BDD(111) and suggest the Boron-enhanced graphitization on the BDD(111). The results give an insight into the surface stability of the BDD.

The transition was predicted at 40 GPa with PBE functional. Then the Hubbard correction was added to enhance the localization of p-orbital of oxygen. The aim of this study is to clarify the physics which governs the transition from epsilon phase to zeta phase of solid oxygen observed experimentally at 96 GPa using density functional theory (DFT). The transition was predicted at 40 GPa with PBE functional. Then the Hubbard correction was added to enhance the localization of p-orbital of oxygen. The epsilon-zeta transition pressure was significantly improved to 70 GPa. Finally, we included the non-local van der Waals correction. The transition pressure slightly increases to 80 GPa. These results demonstrate that the contribution from Hubbard term is superior to van der Waals term.

Named Entity Recognition (NER) is one of the most common tasks of the natural language processing. The purpose of NER is to find and classify tokens in text documents into predefined categories called tags, such as person names, quantity expressions, percentage expressions, names of locations, organizations, as well as expression of time, currency and others. Although there is a number of approaches have been proposed for this task in Russian language, it still has a substantial potential for the better solutions. In this work, we studied several deep neural network models starting from vanilla Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) then supplementing it with Conditional Random Fields (CRF) as well as highway networks and finally adding external word embeddings. All models were evaluated across three datasets: Gareev's dataset, Person-1000, FactRuEval-2016. We found that extension of Bi-LSTM model with CRF significantly increased the quality of predictions. Encoding input tokens with external word embeddings reduced training time and allowed to achieve state of the art for the Russian NER task.

The use of Levi-Civita transformation allows us to formulate the problem of two-dimensional screened donor states in a magnetic field as that of two-dimensional anharmonic oscillator. Therefore, the operator method can be directly used for the first problem and the exact solutions of Schrodinger equation are obtained correspondently. In our approach, wave-functions are constructed in the representation of annihilation and creation operators, which permits one to use purely algebraic method in further calculations of other characteristics. The considered problem is related to the motion of 2D electron gas in GaAs/AlGaAs multiple-quantum well structures with the presence of a magnetic field, which continues to provide new and fascinating phenomena.
