The Role of Torsion in Trans-Planckian Physics
Abstract: The torsion of spacetime, if exists, plays an important role at the very early universe when the spin density of particles was very high. It is generally believed that in extremely high energies of the early universe a new physics called trans-Planckian physics should be considered. Since the initial conditions for inflation are probably a result of this new physics, here we consider spin and tors… ▽ More

Gravitational Slip parameter and Gravitational Waves in Einstein-Cartan theory
Abstract: We study the evolution of scalar and tensor cosmological perturbations in the framework of the Einstein-Cartan theory of gravity. The value of the gravitational slip parameter which is defined as the ratio of the two scalar potentials in the Newtonian gauge, can be used to determine whether or not the gravity is modified. We calculate the value of slip parameter in the Einstein-Cartan cosmology an… ▽ More

Cosmological Distances And Hubble Tension In Einstein-Cartan Theory
Abstract: We analyze the measurement of cosmological distances in the presence of torsion in both Einstein-Cartan and Poincare gauge theory of gravity. Using the modified cosmological distance measurements, we use the observed time delays in gravitational lensing systems to determine the Hubble parameter. The results show the measured Hubble parameter from a lensing system can be less than its expected valu… ▽ More

Gravitational lensing by a black hole in Poincar{é} gauge theory of gravity
Abstract: Using a recently found black hole solution in the framework of the Poincar{é} gauge theory of gravity, we study gravitational lensing for a system where the lens is a static spherically symmetric black hole. By analyzing the equations of motion for light rays in a space-time with torsion, we derive the deflection angle as the light emitted from a source pass through near the black hole and numeric… ▽ More

Orbits of particles and black hole thermodynamics in a spacetime with torsion
Abstract: We derive the static spherically symmetric vacuum solution for a spacetime with non-vanishing torsion by solving the field equations analytically. The effects of torsion appear as a single parameter in the line element. For the positive values of this parameter, the resulting line element is found to be of the Reissner-Nordstrom type. This parameter is related to the spin of matter and acts as a t… ▽ More

Light propagation and optical scalars in torsion theories of gravity
Abstract: We investigate the propagation of light rays and evolution of optical scalars in gauge theories of gravity where torsion is present. Recently the modified Raychaudhuri equation in the presence of torsion has been derived. We use this result to derive the basic equations of geometric optics for several different interesting solutions of the Poincar{é} gauge theory of gravity. The results show that… ▽ More

Inflation by spin and torsion in Poincare gauge theory of gravity
Abstract: In Poincare gauge theory of gravity, in addition to mass-energy content, spin is also a source for gravitational interactions. Although the effects of spin are negligible at low energies, they can play a crucial role at very early universe when the spin density was very high. In this paper by choosing a suitable Lagrangian for Poincare gauge theory of gravity, and suitable energy-momentum and spin… ▽ More

Scalar perturbation potentials in a homogeneous and isotropic Weitzenböck geometry
Abstract: We describe the fully gauge invariant cosmological perturbation equations in teleparallel gravity by using the gauge covariant version of the Stewart lemma for obtaining the variations in tetrad perturbations. In teleparallel theory, perturbations are the result of small fluctuations in the tetrad field. The tetrad transforms as a vector in both its holonomic and anholonomic indices. As a result,… ▽ More

Braneworld Cosmological Perturbations in Teleparallel Gravity
Abstract: We describe the fully gauge invariant cosmological perturbation equations in braneworld teleparallel gravity. In this theory, perturbations are the result of small fluctuations in the pentad field. We derive the gauge invariant 'potentials' for both geometric and matter variables. Unlike the metric fluctuations in general relativity, pentad perturbations can only contain scalar and vector modes. A… ▽ More

Braneworld setup and embedding in teleparallel gravity
Abstract: We construct the setup of a five-dimensional braneworld scenario in teleparallel gravity. Both cases of Minkowski and Friedmann-Robertson-Walker branes embedded in Anti de Sitter bulk are studied and the effective 4-D action were studied. 4-dimensional local Lorentz invariance is found to be recovered in both cases. However, due to different junction conditions, the equations governing the 4-D cos… ▽ More

An explanatory evo-devo model for the developmental hourglass
Abstract: The "developmental hourglass" describes a pattern of increasing morphological divergence towards earlier and later embryonic development, separated by a period of significant conservation across distant species (the "phylotypic stage"). Recent studies have found evidence in support of the hourglass effect at the genomic level. For instance, the phylotypic stage expresses the oldest and most conser… ▽ More

Matter stability in modified teleparallel gravity
Abstract: We study the matter stability in modified teleparallel gravity or $f(T)$ theories. We show that there is no Dolgov-Kawasaki instability in these types of modified teleparallel gravity theories. This give the $f(T)$ theories a great advantage over their $f(R)$ counterparts because from the stability point of view there isn't any limit on the form of functions that can be chosen.

Evolution of Perturbations in a Noncommutative Braneworld Inflation
Abstract: Following our previous work in noncommutative braneworld inflation (arXiv:0911.4418), in this paper we use the smeared, coherent state picture of noncommutativity to study evolution of perturbations in a noncommutative braneworld scenario. We show that in this setup, the early stage of the universe evolution has a phantom evolution with imaginary effective sound speed. We show also that the amplit… ▽ More

One more step toward the noncommutative brane inflation
Abstract: Recently a new approach to inflation proposal has been constructed via the smeared coherent state picture of spacetime noncommutativity. Here we generalize this viewpoint to a Randall-Sundrum II braneworld scenario. This model realizes an inflationary, bouncing solution without recourse to any axillary scalar or vector fields. There is no initial singularity and the model has the potential to pr… ▽ More
