Abstract:
We report the first detection of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) on germanium, measured at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Ge-Mini detector of the COHERENT collaboration employs large-mass, low-noise, high-purity germanium spectrometers, enabling excellent energy resolution, and an analysis threshold of 1.5 keV electron-equivalent ionization…

We report the first detection of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) on germanium, measured at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Ge-Mini detector of the COHERENT collaboration employs large-mass, low-noise, high-purity germanium spectrometers, enabling excellent energy resolution, and an analysis threshold of 1.5 keV electron-equivalent ionization energy. We observe a on-beam excess of 20.6$_{+7.1}^{-6.3}$ counts with a total exposure of 10.22 GWhkg and we reject the no-CEvNS hypothesis with 3.9 sigma significance. The result agrees with the predicted standard model of particle physics signal rate within 2 sigma.

Generalization in audio deepfake detection presents a significant challenge, with models trained on specific datasets often struggling to detect deepfakes generated under varying conditions and unknown algorithms. While collectively training a model using diverse datasets can enhance its generalization ability, it comes with high computational costs. To address this, we propose a neural collapse-based sampling approach applied to pre-trained models trained on distinct datasets to create a new training database. Using ASVspoof 2019 dataset as a proof-of-concept, we implement pre-trained models with Resnet and ConvNext architectures. Our approach demonstrates comparable generalization on unseen data while being computationally efficient, requiring less training data. Evaluation is conducted using the In-the-wild dataset.

Deepfake audio poses a rising threat in communication platforms, necessitating real-time detection for audio stream integrity. Unlike traditional non-real-time approaches, this study assesses the viability of employing static deepfake audio detection models in real-time communication platforms. An executable software is developed for cross-platform compatibility, enabling real-time execution. Two deepfake audio detection models based on Resnet and LCNN architectures are implemented using the ASVspoof 2019 dataset, achieving benchmark performances compared to ASVspoof 2019 challenge baselines. The study proposes strategies and frameworks for enhancing these models, paving the way for real-time deepfake audio detection in communication platforms. This work contributes to the advancement of audio stream security, ensuring robust detection capabilities in dynamic, real-time communication scenarios.

Tumor burden assessment by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is central to the evaluation of treatment response for glioblastoma. This assessment is complex to perform and associated with high variability due to the high heterogeneity and complexity of the disease. In this work, we tackle this issue and propose a deep learning pipeline for the fully automated end-to-end analysis of glioblastoma patients. Our approach simultaneously identifies tumor sub-regions, including the enhancing tumor, peritumoral edema and surgical cavity in the first step, and then calculates the volumetric and bidimensional measurements that follow the current Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology (RANO) criteria. Also, we introduce a rigorous manual annotation process which was followed to delineate the tumor sub-regions by the human experts, and to capture their segmentation confidences that are later used while training the deep learning models. The results of our extensive experimental study performed over 760 pre-operative and 504 post-operative adult patients with glioma obtained from the public database (acquired at 19 sites in years 2021-2020) and from a clinical treatment trial (47 and 69 sites for pre-/post-operative patients, 2009-2011) and backed up with thorough quantitative, qualitative and statistical analysis revealed that our pipeline performs accurate segmentation of pre- and post-operative MRIs in a fraction of the manual delineation time (up to 20 times faster than humans). The bidimensional and volumetric measurements were in strong agreement with expert radiologists, and we showed that RANO measurements are not always sufficient to quantify tumor burden.
