The existence of boron in the deposited film from triphenyl borane, with a precursor temperature of 90 °C, was confirmed by a core level X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. The film exhibited a semiconducting behavior with a band gap of 285 meV. Although the band gap was decreased to 197 meV after an annealing process, the film was still semiconductor. Additionally, a drastic reduction of the resistance on the deposited film by applying pressures was observed from an in-situ electrical transport measurements using a diamond anvil cell.

A direct patterning technique of gallium-irradiated superconducting silicon has been established by focused gallium-ion beam without any mask-based lithography process. The electrical transport measurements for line and square shaped patterns of gallium-irradiated silicon were carried out under self-field and magnetic field up to 7 T. Sharp superconducting transitions were observed in both patterns at temperature of 7 K. The line pattern exhibited a signature of higher onset temperature above 10 K. A critical dose amount to obtain the superconducting gallium-irradiated silicon was investigated by the fabrication of various samples with different doses. This technique can be used as a simple fabrication method for superconducting device.

Elastic and inelastic alpha scatterings on $^{10}$C were measured using a 68-MeV/u radioactive $^{10}$C beam incident on the recently developed MAIKo active target system. The phenomenological effective $α$-$N$ interaction and the point-nucleon density distribution in the ground state were determined from the elastic scattering data. The cross sections of the inelastic alpha scattering were calculated using this interaction and density distribution and were compared with the experiment to determine the neutron quadrupole transition matrix element $M_{n}$ between the ground state and the $2_{1}^{+}$ state at $E_{x} = 3.35$ MeV in $^{10}$C. The deduced neutron transition matrix element is $M_{n} = 6.9\, \pm0.7\, \mathrm{(fit)}\, \pm1.2\, \mathrm{(sys)}$ fm$^{2}$. The ratio of the neutron transition strength to proton transition strength was determined as $M_{n}/M_{p} = 1.05\, \pm0.11\, \mathrm{(fit)}\, \pm0.17\, \mathrm{(sys)}$, which indicates that the quadrupole transition between the ground state and the $2_{1}^{+}$ state in $^{10}$C is less neutron dominant compared to that in $^{16}$C.

The Simons Observatory (SO) is a ground-based cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiment sited on Cerro Toco in the Atacama Desert in Chile that promises to provide breakthrough discoveries in fundamental physics, cosmology, and astrophysics. Supported by the Simons Foundation, the Heising-Simons Foundation, and with contributions from collaborating institutions, SO will see first light in 2021 and start a five year survey in 2022. SO has 287 collaborators from 12 countries and 53 institutions, including 85 students and 90 postdocs.
The SO experiment in its currently funded form ('SO-Nominal') consists of three 0.4 m Small Aperture Telescopes (SATs) and one 6 m Large Aperture Telescope (LAT). Optimized for minimizing systematic errors in polarization measurements at large angular scales, the SATs will perform a deep, degree-scale survey of 10% of the sky to search for the signature of primordial gravitational waves. The LAT will survey 40% of the sky with arc-minute resolution. These observations will measure (or limit) the sum of neutrino masses, search for light relics, measure the early behavior of Dark Energy, and refine our understanding of the intergalactic medium, clusters and the role of feedback in galaxy formation.
With up to ten times the sensitivity and five times the angular resolution of the Planck satellite, and roughly an order of magnitude increase in map** speed over currently operating ("Stage 3") experiments, SO will measure the CMB temperature and polarization fluctuations to exquisite precision in six frequency bands from 27 to 280 GHz. SO will rapidly advance CMB science while informing the design of future observatories such as CMB-S4.

The absolute value of $R_γ(E_x)$ was calibrated by using the well-known $γ$-ray emission probability from $\rm^{12}C^* ( 15.11$ MeV, $ 1^+$, $T=1$) and $\rm^{16}O^* ( 6.9$ MeV, $2^+$, $T=0$) states within 5\% uncertainty. We found that $R_γ(E_x)$ starts from zero at $E_x=16$ MeV, increases to a maximum of 53.3$\pm$0.4$\pm$3.9\% at $E_x=27$ MeV and then decreases. We also compared the measured values of $R_γ(E_x)$ with statistical model calculation based on the Hauser-Feshbach formalism in the energy region $E_x=$ 16-32 MeV and discussed the features of $γ$-ray emission probability quantitatively.

In this study, we conducted various magnetotransport measurements on Fe$_{1+y}$Te$_{1-x}$Se$_{x}$ single crystals from which excess iron was sufficiently removed. Our results revealed that crossover from the incoherent to the coherent electronic state and opening of the pseudogap occur at high temperatures ($\approx$ 150 K for $x$ = 0.2). This is accompanied by a more substantial pseudogap and the emergence of a phase with a multi-band nature at lower temperatures (below $\approx$ 50 K for $x$ = 0.2) before superconductivity sets in. A comparison of these results with those of the as-grown (non-superconducting) samples implies that the coherent state accompanied by the pseudogap is needed for the occurrence of superconductivity in this system.

We present the first measurement of cross-correlation between the lensing potential, reconstructed from cosmic microwave background (CMB) {\it polarization} data, and the cosmic shear field from galaxy shapes. This measurement is made using data from the POLARBEAR CMB experiment and the Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) survey. By analyzing an 11~deg$^2$ overlap** region, we reject the null hypothesis at 3.5$σ$\ and constrain the amplitude of the {\bf cross-spectrum} to $\widehat{A}_{\rm lens}=1.70\pm 0.48$, where $\widehat{A}_{\rm lens}$ is the amplitude normalized with respect to the Planck~2018{} prediction, based on the flat $Λ$ cold dark matter cosmology. The first measurement of this {\bf cross-spectrum} without relying on CMB temperature measurements is possible due to the deep POLARBEAR map with a noise level of ${\sim}$6\,$μ$K-arcmin, as well as the deep HSC data with a high galaxy number density of $n_g=23\,{\rm arcmin^{-2}}$. We present a detailed study of the systematics budget to show that residual systematics in our results are negligibly small, which demonstrates the future potential of this cross-correlation technique.

Polycrystalline samples of layered pnictogen diselenide NdO0.8F0.2Sb1-xBixSe2 (x = 0 to 0.8) were successfully synthesized by solid-state reactions. Electrical resistivity in the synthesized samples was systematically decreased with an increase in Bi content x. Crystal structure analysis using synchrotron X-ray diffraction suggests that insulator to metal transition upon Bi do** correlates with anomalous change in c-axis length and/or corrugation in conducting layer. The emergence of superconductivity under high pressure is demonstrated using diamond anvil cell (DAC) with boron-doped diamond electrodes, for x = 0.3 and 0.7 as the representative samples. For Sb-rich one (x = 0.3), we observed a superconducting transition with Tconset = 5.3 K at 50 GPa, which is the first-ever report of the superconductivity in layered SbCh2-based (Ch: chalcogen) compounds. The Tconset of x = 0.3 increased with increasing pressure and reached 7.9 K at 70.8 GPa, followed by the gradual decrease in Tc up to 90 GPa. For Bi-rich one (x = 0.7), a superconducting transition with Tconset = 5.9 K was observed at 43.5 GPa, which is the almost comparable to that of x = 0.3; besides, upper critical field (Hc2) is evaluated to be ~10 T for x = 0.7, which is higher than that of x = 0.3 (Hc2 = 6.7 T at 50 GPa).

The temperature dependences of the $^{63}$Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate $^{63}$(1/$T_1$) and the spin Knight shift $^{63}K_\mathrm{spin}$ of the inner plane Cu(1) site were nearly the same as those of the outer plane Cu(2) site in the normal states. The pseudogap temperature $T^*$ defined as the maximum temperature of $^{63}$(1/$T_1T$) was 190 K for the underdoped $T_\mathrm{c}$ = 124 sample and 143 K for the optimally doped $T_\mathrm{c}$ = 134 K sample. The NMR results indicate the uniform hole distribution in the three layers, which is consistent with a coalescence of three-derived Fermi surfaces predicted by a band theory. The room temperature in-plane $^{63}K_\mathrm{spin}^{ab}$ depends on whether the number of CuO$_2$ planes per unit cell is even or odd for the Hg-based multilayer cuprate superconductors.

Candidates compounds for new thermoelectric and superconducting materials, which have narrow band gap and flat bands near band edges, were exhaustively searched by a high-throughput first-principles calculation from an inorganic materials database named AtomWork. We focused on AgIn$_{5}$Se$_{8}$ which has high density of state near the Fermi level. AgIn$_{5}$Se$_{8}$ was successfully synthesized as single crystals using a melt and slow cooling method. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the obtained crystal is high quality without deficiencies. The valence states in AgIn$_{5}$Se$_{8}$ were determined to be Ag1+, In3+ and Se2- in accordance with a formal charge by the core level X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. The electrical resistance was evaluated under high pressure using a diamond anvil cell with boron-doped diamond electrodes. Although the sample was insulator with a resistance of above 40 MΩ at ambient pressure, the resistance markedly decreased with increase of the pressure, and a pressure-induced superconducting transition was discovered at 3.4 K under 52.5 GPa. The transition temperature increased up to 3.7 K under further pressure of 74.0 GPa.

Transport properties of Ce$_{0.85}$F0.15SbS$_{2}$ and undoped CeOSbS$_{2}$ under high pressure were investigated experimentally and theoretically. Electrical resistivity measurements of the Ce$_{0.85}$F0.15SbS$_{2}$ single crystals were performed under various high pressures using a diamond anvil cell with boron-doped diamond electrodes. The samples showed the insulator to metal transition by applying high pressure up to 30-40 GPa. On the other hand, the undoped CeOSbS$_{2}$ showed almost same transport property with the F-doped sample under high pressure. The valence state analysis using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed a simple valence state of Ce3+ in Ce$_{0.85}$F0.15SbS$_{2}$ and mixed valence state between Ce3+ and Ce4+ in undoped CeOSbS$_{2}$. The valence fluctuation in Ce carried out the comparable transport nature in the both samples. A band calculation suggests that the undoped CeOSbS$_{2}$ could be metallic under high pressure of 30 GPa in accordance with the experimental results. A superior thermoelectric property of power factor in CeOSbS$_{2}$ was estimated under high pressure around 20 GPa in comparison with that of ambient pressure.

Single crystal structural analysis demonstrated that the Nd ion partially occupied the Lu site. The (Lu,Nd)124 exhibited the superconducting transition at ~75 K in the magnetic susceptibility and resistivity. The $T_c$ and the c-axis of the (Lu,Nd)124 corresponded to Tm124. These results indicate that RE124 equivalent to the one composed of single RE element is obtained by combination of two RE elements.

A new active target named MAIKo (Mu-PIC based Active target for Inverse Kinematics$_{\circ}$) has been developed at Kyoto University and Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP), Osaka University. MAIKo is suited for missing-mass spectroscopy of unstable nuclei at forward scattering angles in inverse kinematics. MAIKo consists of a time projection chamber (TPC), which incorporates a micro-pixel chamber ($μ$-PIC) as the electron multiplication and collection system. In MAIKo, the medium gas also plays the role of a reaction target, thus allowing detection of low-energy recoil particles with high position resolution. The MAIKo TPC was commissioned with He(93%)+iso-C$_{4}$H$_{10}$(7%) and He(93%)+CO$_{2}$(7%) mixture gasses at 430 hPa. The gas gain and the angular resolution of MAIKo were evaluated with an alpha source and a $^{4}$He beam at 56 MeV. The TPC was stably operated up to 1000-kcps beam intensity. A tracking algorithm using the Hough transform method has been developed to analyze scattering events. An angular resolution of 1.3$^{\circ}$ was achieved for scattered $^{4}$He particles.

We report the Raman scattering measurements on the triple layer Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 (Bi2223) crystals of four different do** levels from slightly overdoped to strongly underdoped regimes. We observed a double pair-breaking peak in the antinodal B1g configuration that we attribute to the two antinodal gaps opening on the outer and inner CuO2-plane (OP and IP) band, respectively. The do** dependence of the pair-breaking peak energy was investigated. Considering the difference in do** level between the IP and OP, all the B1g pair-breaking peak energies for OP and IP were found to align on a single line as a function of do**, which is consistent with the previous results on the double and mono-layer cuprates. Within our experimental accuracy the IP and OP peaks start to appear almost at the same temperature. These findings suggest some sort of interaction between the layers. The observed gap energy is very large, not scaling with Tc.

We focused on PbBi$_2$Te$_4$ which has the similar electronic band structure and the same crystal structure with those of a pressure-induced superconductor SnBi2Se4 explored by the same data-driven approach. The PbBi$_2$Te$_4$ was successfully synthesized as single crystals using a melt and slow cooling method. The core level X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed Pb2+, Bi3+ and Te2- valence states in PbBi$_2$Te$_4$. The thermoelectric properties of the PbBi$_2$Te$_4$ sample were measured at ambient pressure and the electrical resistivity was also evaluated under high pressure using a diamond anvil cell with boron-doped diamond electrodes. The resistivity decreased with increase of the pressure, and two pressure-induced superconducting transitions were discovered at 3.4 K under 13.3 GPa and at 8.4 K under 21.7 GPa. The data-driven approach shows promising power to accelerate the discovery of new thermoelectric and superconducting materials.

Such an actual solution is obtained by using $q$-Borel summability, which is a $q$-analog of Borel summability. Our result shows a $q$-analog of the Stokes phenomenon. Additionally, we show that letting $q\to1$ in our result gives the Borel sum of classical hypergeometric series. The same problem was already considered by Dreyfus, but we note that our result is remarkably different from his one.

Softmax is an output activation function for modeling categorical probability distributions in many applications of deep learning. However, a recent study revealed that softmax can be a bottleneck of representational capacity of neural networks in language modeling (the softmax bottleneck). In this paper, we propose an output activation function for breaking the softmax bottleneck without additional parameters. We re-analyze the softmax bottleneck from the perspective of the output set of log-softmax and identify the cause of the softmax bottleneck. On the basis of this analysis, we propose sigsoftmax, which is composed of a multiplication of an exponential function and sigmoid function. Sigsoftmax can break the softmax bottleneck. The experiments on language modeling demonstrate that sigsoftmax and mixture of sigsoftmax outperform softmax and mixture of softmax, respectively.

In contrast to the previous works in which their control objective is to achieve stability, this paper presents a novel energy-aware control scheme for achieving high level specifications, or more specifically, temporal logic specifications. Inspired by the standard hierarchical strategy that has been proposed in the field of formal control synthesis paradigm, we propose a new abstraction procedure for jointly synthesizing control and communication strategies, such that the communication reduction in NCSs and the satisfaction of the temporal logic specifications are guaranteed. A charge excitation in a two-dimensional Mott insulator is strongly coupled with the surrounding spins, which is observed as magnetic-polaron formations of doped carriers and a magnon sideband in the Mott-gap transition spectrum. However, the dynamics related to the spin sector are difficult to measure. Here, we show that pump-probe reflection spectroscopy with 7-fs laser pulses can detect the optically induced spin dynamics in Nd$_2$CuO$_4$, a cuprate Mott insulator. The bleaching signal at the Mott-gap transition is enhanced at $\sim$18 fs, which corresponds to the spin-relaxation time in magnetic-polaron formations and is characterized by the exchange interaction. More importantly, ultrafast coherent oscillations appear in the time evolutions of the reflectivity changes, and their frequencies (1400-2700 cm$^{-1}$) are equal to the probe energy measured from the Mott-gap transition peak. These oscillations originate from interferences between charge excitations with two magnons and provide direct evidence for charge-spin coupling.

The Hanle curves with an anomalously large width and hysteretic behavior at the critical transverse magnetic field were observed in many single quantum dots grown in the same QD sample. In order to explain the anomalies in the Hanle curve indicating the formation of a large nuclear field perpendicular to the photo-injected electron spin polarization, we propose a new model based on the current phenomenological model for dynamic nuclear spin polarization. The model includes the effects of the nuclear quadrupole interaction and the sign inversion between in-plane and out-of-plane g-factors, and the model calculations reproduce successfully the characteristics of the observed anomalies in the Hanle curves.

Even without any external magnetic field, the positive trion excited by the circularly-polarized light generated an Overhauser field of up to $\sim$0.8 T. From the excitation power dependences of the Overhauser field and degree of circular polarization of the photoluminescence spectra, the relation between the Overhauser field and Knight field under zero external magnetic field was revealed clearly. In addition, we found that the nuclear depolarization rate decreased as the magnitude of the longitudinal magnetic field increased, which seemed to be caused by the influence of the quadrupolar interaction of nuclear spins. Further, the key parameters describing the dynamics of a coupled electron-nuclear spin system, the electron g-factor and the fluctuation of the Overhauser field, were evaluated in a typical single InAlAs quantum dot.

In this paper, we propose a new aperiodic formulation of model predictive control for nonlinear continuous-time systems. Unlike earlier approaches, we provide event-triggered conditions without using the optimal cost as a Lyapunov function candidate. Instead, we evaluate the time interval when the optimal state trajectory enters a local set around the origin. The obtained event-triggered strategy is more suitable for practical applications than the earlier approaches in two directions. First, it does not include parameters (e.g., Lipschitz constant parameters of stage and terminal costs) which may be a potential source of conservativeness for the event-triggered conditions. Second, the event-triggered conditions are necessary to be checked only at certain sampling time instants, instead of continuously. This leads to the alleviation of the sensing cost and becomes more suitable for practical implementations under a digital platform. The proposed event-triggered scheme is also validated through numerical simulations.

We explore the potential of quantum annealing to enhance classical SAT solving, especially where sampling from the space of all possible solutions is of interest. We address the formulation of SAT problems to make them suitable for commercial quantum annealers, practical concerns in their implementation, and how the performance of the resulting quantum solver compares to and complements classical SAT solvers.

Abstract:
To elucidate the pseudogap phase diagram including the overdoped state of high transition temperature (high-$T_c$) cuprates, we must understand the origin of the positive out-of-plane magnetoconductivity (MC) observed in these compounds. We show that the superconductive density-of-states (DOS) depletion effect, in addition to the pseudogap effect, clearly appears below the superconductive fluctuation regime, and the contribution becomes dominant in the superconducting state.

In this paper, we propose a new self-triggered formulation of Model Predictive Control for continuous-time linear networked control systems. Our control approach, which aims at reducing the number of transmitting control samples to the plant, is derived by parallelly solving optimal control problems with different sampling time intervals. The controller then picks up one sampling pattern as a transmission decision, such that a reduction of communication load and the stability will be obtained. The proposed strategy is illustrated through comparative simulation examples.

The change in the configuration of valence protons between the initial and final states in the neutrinoless double-$β$ decay of $^{130}$Te $\rightarrow$ $^{130}$Xe and of $^{136}$Xe $\rightarrow$ $^{136}$Ba has been determined by measuring the cross sections of the ($d$,$^3$He) reaction with 101-MeV deuterons. Together with our recent determination of the relevant neutron configurations involved in the process, a quantitative comparison with the latest shell-model and interacting-boson-model calculations reveals significant discrepancies. These are the same calculations used to determine the nuclear matrix elements governing the rate of neutrinoless double-$β$ decay in these systems.

Our control method specifies not only when to execute control tasks but also provides a way to discretize the optimal control trajectory into several control samples, so that the reduction of communication load will be obtained. Stability analysis under the sample-and-hold implementation is also given, which guarantees that the state converges to a terminal region where the system can be stabilized by a local state feedback controller. Some simulation examples validate our proposed framework.

We would like to show how biological grou**, especially in the case of species formation, is emerged through a nature of interactive populations with a number theory. First, we are able to define a species as a $p$-Sylow subgroup of a particular community in a single niche, confirmed by topological analysis. We named this model the patch with zeta dominance (PzDom) model. Next, the topological nature of the system is carefully examined. We confirm the induction of hierarchy and time through a one-dimensional probability space with certain topologies. For further clarification of induced fractals including the relation to renormalization, a theoretical development is proposed based on a newly identified fact, namely that scaling parameters for magnetization analogs exactly correspond to imaginary parts of the Riemann zeta function's nontrivial zeros. In our PzDom model, calculations only require knowledge of the density of individuals over time.

Abstract:
In this paper, we are concerned with the uniqueness and the non-degeneracy of positive radial solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic equations. Using detailed ODE analysis, we extend previous results to cases where nonlinear terms may have sublinear growth. As an application, we obtain the uniqueness and the non-degeneracy of ground states for modified Schrödinger equations.

An $m$-distance set $X$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ is said to be maximal if there does not exist a vector $x$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ such that the union of $X$ and $\{x\}$ still has only $m$ distances. Bannai--Sato--Shigezumi (2012) investigated the maximal $m$-distance sets which contain the Euclidean representation of the Johnson graph $J(n,m)$. In this paper, we consider the same problem for the Hamming graph $H(n,m)$. The Euclidean representation of $H(n,m)$ is an $m$-distance set in $\mathbb{R}^{m(n-1)}$. We prove that the maximum $n$ is $m^2 + m - 1$ such that the representation of $H(n,m)$ is not maximal as an $m$-distance set. Moreover we classify the largest $m$-distance sets which contain the representation of $H(n,m)$ for $m\leq 4$ and any $n$. We also classify the maximal $2$-distance sets in $\mathbb{R}^{2n-1}$ which contain the representation of $H(n,2)$ for any $n$.

In Deep Learning, a well-known approach for training a Deep Neural Network starts by training a generative Deep Belief Network model, typically using Contrastive Divergence (CD), then fine-tuning the weights using backpropagation or other discriminative techniques. However, the generative training can be time-consuming due to the slow mixing of Gibbs sampling. We investigated an alternative approach that estimates model expectations of Restricted Boltzmann Machines using samples from a D-Wave quantum annealing machine. We tested this method on a coarse-grained version of the MNIST data set. In our tests we found that the quantum sampling-based training approach achieves comparable or better accuracy with significantly fewer iterations of generative training than conventional CD-based training. Further investigation is needed to determine whether similar improvements can be achieved for other data sets, and to what extent these improvements can be attributed to quantum effects.

Our knowledge of the ground state of underdoped hole-doped cuprates has evolved considerably over the last few years. There is now compelling evidence that inside the pseudogap phase, charge order breaks translational symmetry leading to a reconstructed Fermi surface made of small pockets. Quantum oscillations, [Doiron-Leyraud N, et al. (2007) Nature 447:564-568], optical conductivity [Mirzaei SI, et al. (2013) Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 110:5774-5778] and the validity of Wiedemann-Franz law [Grissonnache G, et al. (2016) Phys. Rev. B 93:064513] point to a Fermi liquid regime at low temperature in the underdoped regime. However, the observation of a quadratic temperature dependence in the electrical resistivity at low temperatures, the hallmark of a Fermi liquid regime, is still missing. Here, we report magnetoresistance measurements in the magnetic-field-induced normal state of underdoped YBa_2Cu_4O_8 which are consistent with a T^2 resistivity extending down to 1.5 K. The magnitude of the T^2 coefficient, however, is much smaller than expected for a single pocket of the mass and size observed in quantum oscillations, implying that the reconstructed Fermi surface must consist of at least one additional pocket.

In order to formulate mathematical conjectures likely to be true, a number of base cases must be determined. However, many combinatorial problems are NP-hard and the computational complexity makes this research approach difficult using a standard brute force approach on a typical computer. One sample problem explored is that of finding a minimum identifying code. To work around the computational issues, a variety of methods are explored and consist of a parallel computing approach using Matlab, a quantum annealing approach using the D-Wave computer, and lastly using satisfiability modulo theory (SMT) and corresponding SMT solvers. Each of these methods requires the problem to be formulated in a unique manner. In this paper, we address the challenges of computing solutions to this NP-hard problem with respect to each of these methods.

We have performed the photoemission and inverse photoemission experiments to elucidate the origin of Mott insulating states in A-site ordered perovskite CaCu$_3$Ti$_4$O$_{12}$ (CCTO). Experimental results have revealed that Cu 3$d$-O 2$p$ hybridized bands, which are located around the Fermi level in the prediction of the local-density approximation (LDA) band calculations, are actually separated into the upper Hubbard band at $\sim$ 1.5 eV and the lower Hubbard band at $\sim$ $-$1.7 eV with a band gap of $\sim$ 1.5-1.8 eV. We also observed that Cu 3$d$ peak at $\sim$ $-$3.8 eV and Ti 3$d$ peak at $\sim$ 3.8 eV are further away from each other than as indicated in the LDA calculations. In addition, it is found that the multiplet strucutre around $-$9 eV includes a considerable number of O 2$p$ states. These observations indicate that the Cu 3$d$ and Ti 3$d$ electrons hybridized with the O 2$p$ states are strongly correlated, which originates in the Mott-insulating states of CCTO.
