This paper reports the impact of process-dependent structural deformation and lattice strain by do**, resulting in domain re-orientation along the a-axis. For this investigation, the smaller La3+ cation is introduced at A-site and the longitudinal and transverse piezocoefficient properties have been studied in Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT) film. Introducing smaller cations at the A-site leads to a reduction in the lattice parameter and improves the lattice matching with the Pt substrate. The XRD and HRTEM studies evidence this occurrence in both films. The HRTEM analysis also reveals the 30° long-range ordered domain alignment due to the lattice mismatch and 0° match domain alignment with the substrate in PZT and PLZT films respectively. The strain-induced 30° domain alignment in PZT enhances the longitudinal (d33d), whereas 0° domain alignment in PLZT enhances the transverse (d31) piezocoefficient properties. Incorporating 8% of La in the PZT lattice leads to a two-fold increase in the d31 value compared to PZT film.

For the past two decades piezo MEMS technology are emerging for its low power consumption of ultrasonic sensing and actuation devices for biomedical applications. Still researchers are facing challenges in miniaturization of piezo-MEMS devices. But up-to-date there is no reports on achieving better sensitivity and actuation strength properties in the same piezoelectric material. As piezoelectric materials are anisotropic in nature, for that it is essential to grow different textured PZT thin film on a single silicon substrate. In the present investigation we have demonstrated the simple method of growing different textured PZT thin film with same process condition without introducing any buffer layer on a platinised silicon wafer by wet chemical method. For this two types of modified bottom electrode Ti/Pt stacks have been proposed i.e., mono- and bilayer Pt on a same silicon substrate using lithography techniques. The texture of the PZT thin film grown on these Pt layers shows (111) and (100) preferred orientations. The XPS surface analysis was carried out on both Pt surfaces to investigate the anomalous behaviour of different textured PZT on different Pt layers. The measured ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties has shown low remanent polarization and high piezocoefficient values for (100) oriented film as reported. The (100) oriented film shows piezocoefficient (d33,f) value twice than that of (111) oriented PZT thin films on a single silicon substrate.

The radiation observed in quasars and active galactic nuclei is mainly produced by a relativistic plasma orbiting close to the black hole event horizon, where strong gravitational effects are relevant. The observational data of such systems can be compared with theoretical models to infer the black hole and plasma properties. In the comparison process, ray tracing algorithms are essential to computing the trajectories followed by the photons from the source to our telescopes. In this paper, we present OSIRIS: a new stable FORTRAN code capable of efficiently computing null geodesics around compact objects, including general relativistic effects such as gravitational lensing, redshift, and relativistic boosting. The algorithm is based on the Hamiltonian formulation and uses different integration schemes to evolve null geodesics while tracking the error in the Hamiltonian constrain to ensure physical results. We found from an error analysis that the integration schemes are all stable, and the best one maintains an error below $10^{-11}$. Particularly, to test the robustness and ability of the code to evolve geodesics in curved spacetime, we compute the shadow and Einstein rings of a Kerr black hole with different rotation parameters and obtain the image of a thin Keplerian accretion disk around a Schwarzschild black hole. Although OSIRIS is parallelized neither with MPI nor with CUDA, the computation times are of the same order as those reported by other codes with these types of parallel computing platforms.

The tip-tilt stabilisation system of the 1.8 m Auxiliary Telescopes of the Very Large Telescope Interferometer was never dimensioned for robust fringe tracking, except when atmospheric seeing conditions are excellent. Increasing the level of wavefront correction at the telescopes is expected to improve the coupling into the single-mode fibres of the instruments, and enable robust fringe tracking even in degraded conditions. We deployed a new adaptive optics module for interferometry (NAOMI) on the Auxiliary Telescopes. We present its design, performance, and effect on the observations that are carried out with the interferometric instruments.

We obtain the precise condition on the potentials of Yang-Mills theories in 0+1 dimensions and D0 brane quantum mechanics ensuring the discretness of the spectrum. It is given in terms of a moment of inertia of the membrane. From it we obtain a bound for the mass gap of any D+1 Yang-Mills theory in the slow-mode regime. In particular we analyze the physical case D=3. The quantum mechanical behavior of the theories, concerning its spectrum, is determined by harmonic oscillators with frequencies given by the inertial tensor of the membrane. We find a class of quantum mechanic potential polynomials of any degree, with classical instabilities that at quantum level have purely discrete spectrum.
